Kazuki Shikimori is a second year student of the prestigious magic school, Aoi Academy. Unlike ordinary people who can use magic less than a hundred times and several of his classmates, who can use magic several thousand times, Kazuki can only use his magic eight times before he turns to ash. His life changes when it is revealed that Kazuki is descended from a line of world famous magicians and he has the potential to father the most powerful magician in the world. Suddenly three girls, Yuna Miyama, Kuriko Kazetsubaki and Rin Kamishiro, enter Kazuki’s life in order to obtain his valuable genes.

Maburaho is a bad anime mostly because of the lack of environments. And Maburaho is also a bad anime because the story sucks especially as the series progresses. But the environment and story don’t bother me as much as the characters do, especially Kazuki. All of the character’s voices are extremely annoying mostly because they are really high-pitched, but also because they never shut up and they never talk about anything else except Kazuki. Though I understand that Maburaho is a harem anime series centered on Kazuki, there is no reason for every episode to only be about Kazuki. And that is why the story of Maburaho sucks, because the story is only about Kazuki; having the story only be about Kazuki gets really old after a short time. Even when Kazuki and the girl main characters go on a school field trip, the episode revolves around Kazuki and how hopeless he is. Which brings me to another part about Maburaho that bothers me; Kazuki is really hopeless and thats fine and dandy and all, but the fact that Kazuki starts out as not hopeless in the beginning of the series and then suddenly becomes hopeless doesn’t make sense. I mean isn’t the main character who is the hero in the anime series supposed to get stronger not only physically, but mentally as the series progresses? Apparently not in Maburaho. Also, Kazuki starts to rely way too heavily on the girl main characters as Maburaho’s story progress which adds onto Kazuki’s hopelessness.
